Money, money, money

On conjugal finance management…

This month we decided to save up twice the amount we save every month. That means the impact is we would be relatively ‘cash poor’ for the month. You see here in Singapore you get your salary only once a month, but you get your full salary. So if you intend to save up some money, it will be much safer to just put it aside once you get your salary. That’s what we learned a few months after we realized that were not saving much money at all. In reality, when you know you have cash in your ATM – your mindset would always be ‘okay I can still buy this or that’. Talk about human nature =)

Of course, in everything ‘you lose some, you get some’. You lose some ‘consumer power’ to go to fancy restaurants, buy stuff…

Cia: ‘Ano ba yan, ang mahal naman nito! Wag na no!’
Ferdie: ‘Talagang mahal yan, wala pa tayong sweldo eh’
Cia: ‘Shhh, wag kang maingay’

Tapos nagtawanan nalang kame ng malakas.

But it’s good to feel humble and to feel that you just can’t buy everything you want. At least di kame feeling ‘spoiled’ or eager beaver sa shoppingan. Kasi sa panahon ng kagipitan, baka sobrang mafeel namin ang ‘disappointment’ or being ‘deprived’. Also more importantly, we’ll have more savings for our baby and perhaps for traveling din to see more of the Earth!

We also believe that a simple life is always a happy one…
